There are different types of research funding available from the various funding organisations throughout the UK which include:
- researcher-led workstreams which fund research questions proposed directly by researchers.
- commissioned workstreams which advertise calls for research proposals that address specific research areas.
- themed calls where special calls for research proposals that address themed areas are advertised; one-off calls for research in areas where a particular need has been identified.
Health and Care Research Wales runs a number of schemes designed to stimulate excellence and support capacity building in health and social care research. Health and Care Research Wales schemes are always over-subscribed. The deadline for requests for support for RDCS help with applications to RfPPB and the Social Care Award (closing date 20 December 2017) is Monday 23 October 2017.
